Currently the local public safety use the Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T (Safety Acting For Everyone-Together). The system is a Motorola 800Mhz Smartzone Omnilink Type II trunked APCO 25 compliant radio system. It uses both digital and analog modulation for voice.
The system is utilized by federal, state, county, and local agancies in order to facilitate interoperable voice and mobile data communications across the entire state.
The City of Muncie, Police, Delaware County E.M.S., and Muncie Fire Department currently uses the system in analog modulation format with both mobile and portable radios.
The Delaware County Sheriff currently uses a Analog local VHF radio system, primarily, however, does maintain analog modulation talkgroups on the Indiana SAFE-T system.
