A museum built inside of a bus dedicated to teaching Indiana students about the civil rights movement is set to go on the road for a test run. The Freedom Bus project came about from the combined work of Ball State University and the Martin Luther King Dream Team.

"It just makes me sick," said Leslie Weaver, after hearing the administration wanted to get rid of food service and maintenance workers and have a private company provide the service.

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in a parking lot at the DSE Trucking lot along State Road 67 in Daleville. WTHR reports, police say 55-year-old Mark Hittson was killed and his wife Teresa was taken to a Muncie hospital with lacerations.

Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn identified the victim as 55-year-old Mark A. Hittson of Delaware County. Hittson's wife, Teresa, also 55, was released after treatment for lacerations at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

A fight is anticipated over public education as Gov. Mike Pence and Republican lawmakers want change the school's funding formula besides expand vouchers and provide more money to charter schools. Pence rolled out his two-year state budget plan this week that would add $200 million more in K-12 funding and also significantly increase more money for public vouchers for students to attend private schools and for charter schools.

Suit filed in Muncie woman's death The estate of a Muncie woman has filed a lawsuit over her death in a car-motorcycle crash. Check out this story on Vanessa Lynn Darnell, 43, was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by her 50-year-old husband, Homer, when it was struck by a truck at a Jay County intersection last June 7. According to the suit - filed last week in Jay Circuit Court by Muncie attorney Donald McClellan - the couple's motorcycle was westbound on Jay County Road 200-S, and collided with a northbound pickup truck driven by Luke F. Fullenkamp, 65, of rural Jay County.

01/06/2015   Indiana pain doctor, nurse face felony charges

An Indiana pain doctor whose Muncie clinic was raided in October was arrested Tuesday and charged with eight felonies in a Delaware County court. A nurse-practitioner who works for Hedrick, Gay Gunderson-Watson, 56, Decatur, was also arrested after being charged Tuesday with related crimes by Delaware County Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold's office.

01/06/2015   Mom's heroin OD leads to neglect arrest

The woman's 8-month-old infant and 13-year-old son, who has Down syndrome, were in her apartment. The bad news for the 42-year-old Muncie woman is that she faces the likelihood of prosecution for allegedly ingesting that heroin when two of her children, the youngest an infant, were in her care.
